Lifelong Kansas City Resident Todd Tobin has been an advocate of education throughout his career. He knew he wanted to be a teacher from a young age and became a University history teacher after obtaining his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. Later he went on to receive his Masters in education from Webster University. Tobin taught history with nine through 12 in several high schools in Kansas City Missouri School District for twenty years before he returned to law school at the University of Missouri Kansas City. His law firm focus on advocating for troubled youth and steer them toward rehabilitation instead of detention centers. Tobin is married to his college sweetheart, Natalie. The couple has three adult daughters and five grandchildren.

Tobin’s career as a teacher in secondary school took him on a tour of the inner city high schools that left him frustrated at the lack of commitment on behalf of troubled students. Parents who were overtaxed, working multiple jobs just to keep the family over water or parents who was absent due to a variety of less altruistic reasons was the plight of more than 50% of students in inner city high schools. He saw how easily children could be guided by the track and how many of these children had been very good students before the lack of supervision and lack of economic opportunities due to take a different path in life.

Tobin runs after school and weekend coaching clinics that provide these troubled students a place to go is an alternative to hanging in the streets. He has created an internship programs in his thriving law firm to offer opportunities for education, which might not otherwise be available for some of these students. Tobin’s wife Denise is also a teacher and participate in these programmes, together with her husband. Two of the couple’s daughters is also closely involved in Tutoring program and internships. Tobin’s oldest daughter, Carolynn is a lawyer in his company and his youngest daughter, Sondra is an elementary school teacher. Their middle daughter, Kirsten is an actor in New York City.

When Tobin did not advocate for disadvantaged youngsters or helps to further his education, he likes to travel to New York with his wife to visit their daughter Kirsten. Tobin and Natalie are great fans of Broadway and stress at the very least see one or two on every visit to New York. The entire family recently took a cruise through the Mexican Riviera to celebrate Todd and Denise’s 40th wedding anniversary. No one in the family Tobin dare mention that Todd is approaching retirement. Education and advocacy have their life’s vocation and his wife and daughters fully expects him to be an active participant in the company he built until the day he dies.
